Midnight Opera at Steinvikholm Castle. A medieval drama based on true historical events. Welcome to the Midnight Opera at Steinvikholm Castle in inner Trondheimsfjord.

Each August, the opera “Olav Engelbrektsson” recreats the dramatic 16^th century event which stands out as one of the most significant episodes in Nordic history:

The Danish ascent to power and the Reformation. Archbishop Olav Engelbrektsson built his defence and magnificent residence on Steinvikholmen., which became the centre for a ruthless struggle for pover and love.

The performance involves 200 players, including several of Norway’s most renowned opera singers.
Every year since 1993 thousands of people find the way to the magic....

Flaming torches illuminate the ramparts- a cry in the dark- and a unique scenario unfolds. Spend an exciting august evening in the ruins of the medieval castle.
